Four flows. Every store. Every revenue lever.

Welcome flow, post-purchase, win-back, broadcast. The four automations that account for ~30% of revenue at most well-run small Shopify stores — all native to Shopify, all in the same dashboard. No flow-editor PhD required.

The four-flow rule

For most small Shopify stores, four automations cover 95% of the incremental revenue email can produce: welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and win-back. Anything else — predictive AI segments, send-time optimization, dynamic content blocks — is a 1–2% top-of-the-stack gain that only matters once the four foundational flows are running and tuned. Most stores are still missing two or three of them.

The reason isn't lack of awareness. Every merchant has heard "you should set up a welcome flow." The reason is that the dominant tools force you through a flow editor — drag boxes, set triggers, configure delays — that adds an hour of friction per flow and breaks if you miss a single trigger condition. Multiply that by four flows, and the project gets pushed to "next quarter" forever.

Kovyo's automation builder is preconfigured: you pick the flow type, edit the email content, and click on. The trigger conditions, the cadence, and the exit logic are sensible defaults that you can tune if you want, but you don't have to. The four flows below take a combined 15 minutes to set up.

The four flows

1. Welcome flow

Three emails over the first week. Discount code from the popup, brand intro, social proof. Converts 8–12% of new subscribers into first-time buyers — the highest-converting automation any store runs.

Trigger: popup signup or manual list add

2. Abandoned cart

Three emails over 72 hours, recovers 10–15% of abandoned cart value. Auto-cancels if the customer comes back and checks out mid-sequence. The single highest-revenue automation for most stores.

Trigger: Shopify checkout abandonment webhook

3. Post-purchase

Two-touch sequence: thank-you immediately after order, plus a review-request 14 days after delivery. Drives repeat purchase rate up by 15–20% and is the cheapest source of UGC reviews you'll find.

Trigger: Shopify order created / fulfilled webhook

4. Win-back

Re-engagement sequence triggered at 60 or 90 days of customer inactivity (configurable per store based on your typical reorder window). 5–8% reactivation rate is normal for a well-tuned sequence.

Trigger: customer inactive for X days

And one-off broadcasts, in the same dashboard

Beyond the recurring flows, you'll want to send broadcasts — newsletters, product launches, sale announcements. Kovyo's broadcast builder lives next to the automation builder, uses the same segments and the same email template editor, and feeds the same attribution model. Subject-line A/B testing is available on Growth and above; everyone gets click and open analytics, plus revenue attribution per send.

The pricing model is what makes broadcasts safe to send: Kovyo bills on emails actually delivered, not on the size of the list they go to. A 5,000-subscriber blast costs a fraction of one email's monthly allowance, not a tier upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

How many automations can I run on the free plan?

One. Most stores use that slot for the abandoned cart sequence (highest revenue impact). Upgrading to Starter ($9/mo) gets you 5 simultaneous automations — enough for welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, win-back, and one custom flow.

Can I segment by purchase behavior?

Yes. Build segments by RFM (recency, frequency, monetary value), product purchased, total spent, location, or popup source. Send different welcome flows to first-timers vs. repeat buyers, or trigger win-back at 60 days vs 90 days based on the customer's typical reorder cadence.

How does attribution work?

Klaviyo-style last-touch model. We credit the most recent qualifying email or popup with the sale. Defaults: 5-day click window, 1-day open window, 7-day popup conversion window. Tunable per store.

Can I send a one-off broadcast (newsletter)?

Yes. Broadcast campaigns sit alongside automation flows in the same dashboard — no separate tool. Schedule, segment, A/B test the subject line on Growth and above.

Will my emails land in inbox?

Kovyo sends through Resend — the same transactional infrastructure Vercel uses. Shared sending IPs are pre-warmed and reputation-monitored continuously. DKIM, SPF, and DMARC are configured automatically when you connect your custom sending domain (Starter and above).
